Fire Doors

A fire door is just like any other door. But, the breakout of fire is never predictable. A correctly installed fire door performs its purpose – to protect lives and offer protection to the rest of the building and to other buildings.  Fire doors need regular inspections under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 FSO and form part of fire compartmentation regulations.

Fire Doors

Fire Doors form part of Passive Fire Protection and are designed to stop the spread of smoke and fire from on fire compartmentation zone to another.

What are fire doors?

  • Fire Doors are precision-engineered life safety products that form a vital task of holding back a fire should it break out in a building.
  • They are available in a variety of timber, metal and composite materials and range from, single swing, single-leaf, and double-leaf pedestrian doors, to large power-operated steel doors.
  • Fire doors have a fire-resistance rating and form an integral part of a building’s passive fire protection.
  • Having these doors installed in a building slows down the spread of a fire in a building and allows occupants more time to escape and fire crews to gain access.

Fire Dampers

If the building you manage has heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, then the same ductwork that channels air to keep an environment healthy and comfortable, become routes for hazardous smoke, hot air and flames to pass through if a fire breaks out. This is where the fire damper plays an important role.
