Baltic Amber Restaurant & Bar commissions Meritas to design and install bespoke fire doors

The Baltic Bar and Restaurant is a new restaurant in Haverhill, Suffolk specialising in Eastern European cuisine. Situated in the premises of a previous Harvester, the restaurant was closed for a revamp and relaunch. The new owners were keen to ensure that stylish surroundings formed an important part of the Baltic Amber dining experience.

In November 2019 Meritas Fire and Security were approached to install a set of swing fire doors between the kitchen and bar area. However, the design produced by the architect although very asthetic, could not be made into fire doors.

With Christmas and New Year only a matter of weeks away and the opening of the bar and restaurant scheduled for February 2020, the pressure was on to come up with a solution.

Undeterred by the challenge Meritas designed a set of bespoke swing doors with port hole windows. The doors have a 30 minute fire rating to impede the spread of a potential fire from the kitchen, whilst fitting in with the stylish restaurant architecture perfectly.

Working with a contractor Meritas managed to get the doors made and installed before the restaurant and bar opened to the public.
